Let's create unbridled self-expression
in your child's private music lessons

Does your child thrive in one-on-one learning environments?
Does she love to write songs but lacks focus or direction?
Is she ready to perform but you don't know where to get her started?

Then your little rocker may be an ideal candidate for one of my newest mentorship programs: The Superstar Series and The Budding Artists Series.

As you may know, my real genius lies in helping young songwriters gain the focus, skill set, and direction they need to turn small song ideas into a real, thriving anthems on a big stage with a polished band.

That's why I'd like to personally invite you to register for this new program, where we'll take 10 weeks of lessons and emerge with a music video or a simple recorded album.

I remember what it's like to not have a mentor....

When I was in jazz school my original tunes weren't always well-received. Critics said they were too folksy. So my manager would set up folk gigs, and booking agents would promplty say the tunes were too jazzy.

Every night I'd end a gig doubting my own worth as a musician. I didn't want to bend to a genre - I wanted to have a really authentic sound.

I eventually began working with an incredibly talented Grammy-nominated artist whose light and airy voice is revered -- despite nobody in the jazz scene sounding anything like her.

Our weekly meetings were at her apartment and she always had lavender-rose tea on hand as we worked through my original tunes or a jazz standard.

It still took me years to claim my own voice, the sound that is now AVIDYA. I get to travel the country doing what I love - writing and performing music.

So what are these mentorship programs?

Before I tell you about the programs, let me tell you how they came to be.

Some of my students in Mini Singer/Songwriters and the Free Spirits Songwriting Workshop now have 4 or 5 really exceptional original songs. The natural next step at this point in any artist's career is to put them out into the universe for other people to enjoy.

More importantly, these students were clamoring to get more in-depth with the songwriting process. They want to know - what kind of mics do you record with? How do you direct a band? What is copyright and why is it important? Can I get on iTunes?

I sat down with my team and mapped out the coolest things any professional songwriter would want support doing in her career.

The Superstar Series and The Budding Artist Series were born!

The Where, What, and Times

Weekly lessons will be after-school on Tues-Fri beginning in September. We can arrange a time and location that works for us both.

Recording will take place in my home recording studio, where I have enough high-end gear to make Bono giddy. Each recording session will constitute as 1 lesson and can vary from 1-2 hours in length.

The music video shoot will take place at our director's photo studio. It will constitute as the 10th lesson and last about 3-4 hours.

But Wait, There's More

Should our recordings be a smash success.... it would be my pleasure to accompany your child to an all-ages open mic night in the city, where we can share the song with the world.

The Next Steps

I don't have online registration for this program - I want you to email me and we can create a rehearsal schedule that works for both of us. Hit REPLY to this email or write to me at info@freespiritsmusic.com.

Thanks again for your time and I wish you and your family tons and tons of summer fun.

All the best,

Stephanie

Featured Superstar Package Artists

Violet (age 9)
was about to shoot the music video for her song
when the guitar amp started FREAKING OUT.
She and her band spontaneously started playing this song,
which was later called (for obvious reasons)
NO MORE FEEDBACK.

Eventually,
Violet finally got to
sing and play her song
FANCY DREAMER
with the band.

Zula (age 8) wrote her original song called
INFINITY PLUS ONE

"How would it feel to swim with the creatures
The mystical creatures of the sea
Infinity plus one is the biggest number

Infinity plus one is me."

Every child that participates in the Free Spirits Songwriting Workshop
gets to perform their own original song at our bi-annual rock show.
Here's a sample of all the original songs
performed at Shapeshifter Lab in Gowanus Brooklyn.
